ALOHA Bangladesh, National Competition 2010, Dhaka

The 3rd ALOHA Bangladesh Abacus and Mental Arithmetic National Level Competition- 2010 was recently held in Dhaka on the 19th of March 2010. Students of ALOHA across Bangladesh participated in the event. As all ALOHA competitions, the event was a thrilling experience for all the participants. The students had come prepared to test their newly found and learnt ALOHA skills in the field of Mental Arithmetic. They were tested mainly for their speed and accuracy. The students faced the challenge of attempting 50 sums with mixed arithmetical operations in a short time of 5 minutes. About 500 Students of ALOHA Bangladesh ranging from 5-16 years of age took part in the competition. The competition was a daylong event and began with the competition being conducted in the morning and the results were announced in the evening.

Our Founder President for ALOHA International, Mr. Loh Mun Sung was the guest of honour along with Professor Dr.M. Shamsher Ali, vice-chancellor of Southeast University and the former Founder Vice-Chancellor (1992-96) of Bangladesh Open University for the event. The event was organised and hosted by Aloha Bangladesh – Mr. Haider Ali, CEO and Mr. Saiful Kareem Chairman of Unicom Education Consultant Services Ltd. The guests were welcomed with a traditional flower throwing ceremony.
The students were excited and were seen enjoying themselves at the event. The students and the parents waited anxiously for the results to be announced at the end of the evening. For the second time ALOHA International along with Zheijiang Abacus Association of China conferred prestigious Zhusuan awards to selected individuals in ALOHA Bangladesh as recognition for the committed efforts and dedications of persons who have helped in the growth of ALOHA in Bangladesh.

Zhusuan Awards

A prestigious recognition – being awarded for outstanding performance and contributions in the promotion of Abacus Learning. The mandarin word, “Zhusuan” stands for “abacus Calculation”. An apt term which describes the true scope of this recognition.

Soon the moment the students were all waiting for arrived…. The prize giving ceremony was a grand success. There was a mix of shouts laughter happiness with a few sighs of disappointments. But the students were quick to realize that participating in a grand event as this mattered more than winning it. The evening ended with a grand cultural event show casing the talents and culture of our ALOHA students in Bangladesh. ALOHA International is proud to have the students of ALOHA Bangladesh as a part of the family and wishes them all the best for the next competition.
