It gives us immense joy to announce the most awaited event of the year for our children! This year, the ALOHA Mental Arithmetic International Competition will be held in Panama City, the vibrant and modern capital of Panama.
This event not only represents mastery of the abacus and mental calculation, but also the discipline, perseverance and passion of each of our students.
Why Panama?
Panama City is a place where history and innovation blend seamlessly, offering a captivating mix of culture, architecture, and natural beauty. From the iconic Panama Canal and the charm of Casco Viejo, to the scenic Cinta Costera and Amador Causeway, Panama City promises an unforgettable experience for all.
Panama is a fascinating destination that combines tradition, biodiversity and modern architecture. During their stay, families will be able to enjoy:
- The Panama Canal: A must-see, it is a marvel of global engineering.
- Casco Viejo: Considered a World Heritage Site, it features colourful streets and colonial architecture. You must take a photo there!
- Cinta Costera: A spectacular waterfront promenade with green areas and spectacular views. Don’t miss it!
- Biomuseo: a unique museum showcasing the country’s biodiversity and natural history through immersive, interactive exhibits.
- Amador Causeway: A place full of restaurants, you can ride a bike and it has incredible views of the ocean. Ideal for a beautiful family photo!
- Metropolitan Natural Park: A magical place that combines nature and adventure without leaving the city. Learn a little about Panama’s biodiversity!

It’s easy to register for the event. You just have to follow some simple steps:
- Invite your parents to join in this adventure.
- Complete the Registration Form.
- Print it, sign it, and submit it to your ALOHA Centre.
- Make the corresponding payment to confirm the registration.
- Encourage your ALOHA friends to live this experience.
- Practice every day with enthusiasm; you will be competing with students from different countries.
- Get set and go and enjoy Panama!

Panamanian Cuisine… A Journey of Flavours
During the trip, families will be able to enjoy delicious Panamanian cuisine:
- Sancocho: The national dish, full of flavour! What is it? Chicken, yams (like a soft potato), onion, coriander, and a light broth. It is a very mild soup, perfect if you prefer home-style flavours.
- Ropa Vieja: Delicious shredded beef with traditional spices. What is it? Slow-cooked beef, tomatoes, onions, peppers, and mild spices. It tastes like a homemade stew and is both delicious and healthy.
- Patacones: Crispy, golden, and delicious. What is it? Slices of green plantain, flattened and fried twice until crispy. They taste similar to chips but are made from plantain. You’re sure to love them!
- Panamanian ceviche: It’s fresh, light and perfect for Panama’s warm climate. What is it? Fresh fish (usually sea bass), lemon juice, onion, salt and coriander. It is served cold and is very refreshing, ideal if you like the tart flavour of lemon.
And… we couldn’t leave out dessert!
Cocadas and Suspiros: Traditional sweets to end the meal on a high note. What are they made of?
- Cocadas: Shredded coconut, sugar and a touch of vanilla, baked until soft and sweet.
- Suspiros: Merengues made with egg whites and sugar, very light and crunchy.
